This thermostat with an opening point around 80 degrees controls coolant temperature in the cooling system of selected Citroën DS injection models. The unit is integrated in a matching metal housing and regulates coolant flow between engine and radiator. With a cold engine, flow remains limited so the engine reaches operating temperature faster. As temperature increases, the thermostat opens stepwise and prevents overheating. The design fits the dimensions and connection layout of the original system. In this way, interaction between engine cooling and interior heating remains consistent with the intended thermal management of the vehicle.
